The Bergisches Land is a low mountain range in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, east of the Rhine and south of the Ruhr.
Around 2007, Dirk Rohwerder, the owner of this four meter long layout, started planning his project together with a good friend. Experiences from earlier projects, whether positive or negative, were immediately incorporated here.
The theme was to consist of a small suburban station with two main and three passing sidings, a level crossing, a goods dispatch depot, and a small maintenance depot – quite a normal and prototypical setting at that time. In the concealed area, a 14-track staging yard.
